Flybase entry New window?

The name was inspired by the ago phenotype in adult eye clones. Mutant clones have reduced numbers of photorecpetors and increased numbers of interommatidial cells. As a result, the rhabdomere clusters look like lonely little islands of cells in a sea of interommatidial tissue, hence the name.
